Horseshoe Lake Boat Day - December 2013

The region kindly received an exclusive invitation to a boat day on the Carp Society’s Horseshoe Lake near Lechlade on Sunday 15 December 2013. A total of four boats and 9 anglers set out at first light onto the 60 acre lake with the water clarity being a real eye opener.
Various methods and baits resulted in a total of 19 pike being caught with 6 low doubles, the biggest being exactly 12lb. Most fish were caught in the afternoon and surprisingly lure fishing was not productive. Bailiff and regional member Charlie Holyfield and his son landed 10 of the pike with the three other boats also seeing three pike each.
The region thanks the fishery for their continued support and opportunities. We next visit the venue for a bank fish-in Sunday 15 January 2014. A selection of photos from the day can be viewed in the photo gallery.
