Charity Fish-In Report

The Charity Fish-In held on Sunday 4th March 2012 did not enjoy mega support due to other long standing obligations and the very wet weather, but many thanks to the 8 anglers from the Birmingham, Oxfordshire and Shakespeare Regions who did turn up at Barford to fish the Warwickshire Avon.

The year's bragging rights were won by the Birmingham Region who had Nick Rose to thanks with a 13lb 8oz pike caught in the afternoon. Oxfordshire Region came second with Paul Blackman and Vince Williams catching pike of 4lb and 4lb 8oz respectively within the first hour.

Prizes were donated by Pike & Predator magazine and local tackle shops, it was generous of Nick Rose to give his winning book prize to young Jacob Orton whose enthusiasm is great to see.

Including donations from one or two who did not fish we have been able to send cheques for £56 to each of Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK, as well as £18 to the Barford Angling Club.

After the fishing and soaking most people went to the Joseph Arms pub for a well deserved pint and general chat.

Everyone enjoyed the day and it was great to meet new pike anglers and fish a new water. It is hoped to build on this event and make it an annual event.
